Aubergine 'Moneymaker' F1
Solanum melongena
A prolific cropper that fruits earlier in the season, extending the harvest period. Although aubergines are best grown in a greenhouse, this variety will grow happily in a sheltered, sunny spot outside in warmer areas, although fruits may be smaller and come later. Can be grown in containers.

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
From Feb-March, sow under glass. You can soak seeds 24 hours prior to sowing. Sow 6mm deep in separate pots of seed compost. Keep sown seeds at temperatures of 20-25° until germination. Pot on when seedlings are large enough to handle. If growing outdoors, harden off young plants before planting out May-Jun.
Aftercare
Stake when plant reaches 30cm tall. Once fruits start to form, feed with a high potassium fertiliser and mist regularly. Harvest fruits when they are 15cm long and still shiny.
