Easy to grow foliage plant which is great both in borders as backdrop for flowers or in the kitchen garden where the young leaves can be picked for salads. The foliage and seedheads are great for cutting and using in flower arrangements.

Sowing & growing

Sow directly where they are to grow in Mar-May, germination should take 2-3 weeks. Thin the seedlings to 30cm apart, they can be lifted and potted up for use elsewhere. Prefers well drained soil and no need to feed as they thrive in poor soils.

Aftercare

May self seed if the seedheads are left to dry but the birds will enjoy them in Winter and the seedlings are easy to recognise and remove.
