Beetroot 'Boldor'
Beta vulgaris
Now with improved uniformity and germination, this attractive variety is a strong contender for the vegetable garden. The leaves can be also eaten raw in salads or wilted into cooked dishes. Sowing & growing
Sow directly from March-July, in shallow drills 3cm deep, 10cm apart in light, well-drained soil. Remove all visible stones. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin out until 10cm apart. Water well when soil is dry to keep roots cool. Overwatering can promote leaf growth rather than root growth.
Aftercare
While harvesting, pick alternate plants so that surrounding beetroots have more space to develop. Harvest all beetroot before first frosts.
