Beta vulgaris

Sowing & growing
Best sown where they are to crop March-July. Soak seeds in warm water for 30 minutes prior. Sow in 3cm deep, in shallow drills of finely raked, pre-watered soil, removed of weeds and stones. Thin out seedlings to 10cm apart when they are large enough to handle. Suitable for succession sowing.
Aftercare
Beetroot are best watered only when the soil is dry, as continual watering can result in leaf production rather than bulb growth. Pull up alternate plants to leave nearby plants more space to grow.
