Sowing & growing

Sow March-May. Sow outdoors 1.5cm deep into pre-watered, fertile soil. Thin out seedlings 45cm apart when large enough to handle. If sowing under glass, sow 0.5cm deep into trays or pots of seed compost. Transplant into larger pots and acclimatise before planting out May-June, or when risk of frost has passed.

Aftercare

Will need protection from butterflies, caterpillars and cabbage root fly. Horticultural fleecing is best for this. Keep plants well-watered. Side shoots will develop when main head is harvested.
