Spider Flower

The spider flower is a half-hardy annual with prominent stamens that give a distinctive look. Ideal for country cottage themes as well as a more contemporary style. The lightly-scented flowers will appear the same year as sowing and can be enjoyed as cut flowers.

Feb-Apr, sow undercover. Sow thinly and lightly cover with compost or vermiculite. Propagate at 15-20°C. Ideally, allow temperature fluctuation for germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on. Handle seedlings by leaves rather than the delicate stems. Acclimatise before planting out to final position once the risk of frost has passed.

Aftercare

Flowers may require staking. Regular deadheading should encourage more flowers.
