With their double flowers and curved petals, China Aster blooms are perfect for cutting to use in floral displays. Equally suitable for growing in containers or part of a sunny border, they keep their colour into late summer and early autumn when other plants are past their peak.

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
Feb-April, surface sow indoors onto moist seed compost and propagate at 16-18°C until germination occurs. When the seedlings are large enough, transplant into pots to grow on. Acclimatise before planting out 30cm apart when frosts have finished. Sow seed directly April-May, 6mm deep into fine soil and thin as needed.
Aftercare
Keep soil moist but not waterlogged. Regular deadheading will keep flowers coming through growing season. Do not grow in the same post two years in a row to avoid Fusarium Wilt
