RHS Plants for Pollinators

A strong-performing Cosmos with fine, delicate foliage and large flowers. These annuals make an impressive impact in garden borders, and are inviting to passing pollinating insects. Ideal for a cutting garden as their long stems, lacy foliage and pretty blooms make for excellent cut flowers.

Sowing & growing

Sow under glass Feb-April in pots or module trays filled with seed compost. Cover with a light sprinkling of soil and propagate at 21°C. Transplant seedlings when large enough. Harden off and plant out at 30cm apart when risk of frost has passed. Alternatively sow directly in finely prepared soil in May-June.

Aftercare

Continue to water well until plants are established. May need support. Pinching out tips when plants are 15-20cm tall will result in bushier sturdier plants.
