RHS Plants for Pollinators

This pale yellow Cosmos makes a great addition to the border, a good filler of spaces in amongst perennials and it's lighter colour can add a real pop of zesty citrus-yellow. The branching stems provide multiple flowers and can flower for months if deadheaded.

Sowing & growing

Sow inside between Feb-April in pots or trays of seed compost and lightly cover with a thin layer of compost. Keep at 21°C until germination has occurred Prick out the seedlings only when they are big enough to handle. Grow on in cool and light conditions and plant out after the risk of frosts have passed. Sow directly where they are to flower in May-June.

Aftercare

Keep plants watered well until established and deadhead regularly. Pinch out tips of younger plants to encourage bushier plants with more flowers.
