Courgette 'Goldena'

Cucurbita pepo

This prolific Courgette produces bright yellow fruits from summer to autumn. Keep picking the fruits whilst young and tender and the plants will keep rewarding you with more. Planting Nasturtiums and Marigolds with your Courgettes is not only an attractive combination, but these companion plants attract pollinators and can also deter aphids away from your Courgettes.

Sowing & growing

Sow 2-3 seeds on their edges in individual pots from April-May in the greenhouse, or direct-sow outside from mid-May, spaced 60cm between sowings. Thin out to the strongest seedlings. If sown under cover, acclimatise plants before planting 60-80cm apart when risk of frost has passed.

Aftercare

Keep plants well-watered. Harvest regularly to keep plants producing. It is best to keep harvesting as and when the fruits are ready, so give surplus crops away or pickle for winter use.
