Digitalis alba (Foxgloves)
Foxgloves
Tall spires of white foxglove flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies. A fantastic cottage-garden plant that really brightens up a shady part of the garden. They make good cut flowers too, bringing a strong vertical accent to displays. Caution: All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
Digitalis seeds need light to germinate. Feb-April, sow under cover. Sow seed finely onto the surface of moist seed compost and firm down, do not cover. Once established, seedlings can be pricked out into pots and grown on. Acclimatise young plants before planting out May-June, or Sep-Oct for flowers the following year. Can be sown in-situ May-June.
Aftercare
Cut off flower stalks as flowers fade if you do not want them to self-seed.
