Flowers
Digitalis 'Excelsior Hybrids' (Foxgloves)
Foxgloves
You can expect an impressive flowering display with this short-lived perennial. Tall flower spikes are produced above rosettes of woolly green foliage. The blooms encircle the flowering stem, and are held horizontally so the speckled throat can be clearly viewed. Self-seeds freely once established. Caution: All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
Feb-April, sow under cover. Sow sparingly onto the surface of seed compost and form down. Do not cover. The seeds need light and warmth to germinate. Once established, seedlings can be pricked out into pots and grown on. Acclimatise young plants before planting out May-June, or Sep-Oct for flowers the following year. Can be sown in-situ May-June.
Aftercare
Cut off flower stalks as flowers fade if you do not want them to self-seed.
