Sowing & growing

Best started under glass Feb-April, 0.5cm deep in trays of moist seed compost. Cover with soil or vermiculite and propagate at 18-20°C. Transplant into pots, being gentle when handling root system. Grow on and plant out in fertile soil when risk of frost has passed. Pinch out growing tip for bushy growth.

Aftercare

Regularly deadhead to encourage more flowers. In late autumn, cut plants to the ground and mulch to protect from winter weather. In colder regions, lift Dahlia tubers and overwinter undercover.
