Wildflowers
Leucanthemum vulgare - Oxeye Daisy
Oxeye Daisy
Left to naturalise in poorer soils, this wildflower will colonise bare ground and looks wonderful grown en masse, especially in meadows or orchards. It is perfect for wildlife gardens and easy to raise from seed. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Will self-seed and come back each year.

Sowing & growing
Direct sow Mar-May or Sep-Oct 5mm deep into prepared soil that has been finely raked. Thin the seedlings to 25cm apart. Seedlings from Sep-Oct sowings will flower the following year, and may need to be overwintered under cloches. Alternatively, sow under cover Feb-Nov in seed compost and transplant when plants are large enough to handle.
Aftercare
Deadheading once the first flowers have finished should encourage a second flush later in the season. Divide congested clumps in autumn or spring.
