Statice is an easy-to-grow annual producing strong flower stems, which have an impressive vase life when fresh but can also be dried for winter floral arrangements. Flowering throughout the summer, it brings colour to a border and is also suitable for containers.

Sowing & growing
Sow inside Feb-April on the surface of moist seed compost. Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil or vermiculite and propagate at 18-24°C. Prick out seedlings when they are large enough to handle into individual pots. Continue to grow on in cooler conditions. Harden off before planting out 30cm apart when frosts have passed.
Aftercare
Does not require much maintenance apart from deadheading or cutting back of flowers to prolong flowering period.
