Nigella hispanica White

Spanish Fennel Flower

RHS Plants for Pollinators

This white-flowered form of Spanish Fennel flower is very similar to the traditional Love-in-the-mist, with the same delicate foliage and attractive seedpods that develops when the flower dies. The flowers are decorative in the garden as well as the vase and attract bees and butterflies.

Sowing & growing

Best sown where they are to flower March-May or Sep-Nov for flowers the following year. Sow 3mm deep in finely raked soil and water with a fine spray, to not displace seeds. Sow in rows 30cm apart. When seedlings appear, thin out to 25cm spacing.

Aftercare

Cut or deadhead regularly. Will self-seed so deadhead if you do not want seedlings to pop up around the garden the following year.
