Pea 'Afila' – Pea Shoots -
Pisum sativum
Tasty green tendrils have replaced most of the leaves on this type of pea. It's great as a microgreen or pea shoots and for growing in the garden as it's self-supporting. The lack of leaves also improves air flow which lowers the risk of mildew.

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
Pea shoots can be grown indoors all-year-round. Leaving a small gap between each pea, cover the seeds with 15mm of compost. Within a few weeks, the shoots will be ready for the first harvest. They will grow again provided you leave approximately 5cm of growth. Can also be grown as a traditional pea outside. Sow seeds April-June once the soil has warmed up, 15cm apart in flat bottomed, pre-watered drills, 5cm deep.
Aftercare
After harvesting first time leave the plants for 2 weeks to recover before harvesting again.
