Lathyrus 'Blue Ripple'

Sweet Pea

With a strong scent and striking colouring, this is a particularly lovely sweet pea for flower lovers to display in vases around their home during the summer months. When provided with appropriate support, the twining stems should quickly cover an arch or obelisk with flowers, and attract beneficial pollinating insects to your garden.

Flowering

Sowing & growing

Sow under glass Oct-April for the best performing plants in the summer. Sow 1cm deep in pots and root trainers with good seed compost. Propagate at 20-25°C and then grow on at cooler temperatures when seedlings appear. Harden off seedlings before planting out in mild weather when frosts have passed. Sow direct April-May, 2.5cm deep.

Aftercare

Keep cutting the flowers, or removing faded flowers to encourage more blooming. Once seed is allowed to set, flowering will stop. You can support flowering with regular fertilising,
