Sweetcorn 'Swift F1'

Zea mays

Swift is a very reliable, early 'super sweet' variety that produces large well filled cobs packed with rich, golden yellow kernels bursting with flavour. It's quick to germinate and very vigorous making it an interesting alternative at the back of the flower border. Grow in blocks of 4 to aid pollination.

Harvest

Sowing & growing

Sow under glass Mar-May, 3-4cm deep in pots or modules of seed compost and water well. Germinates at 18-30°C. Acclimatise seedlings to outdoor conditions, and plant out 60cm apart, once risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow directly outside in June once soil is warm enough. Sow 2 seeds together and thin to strongest seedling.

Aftercare

Plants may need staking if growing in an exposed position. Protect young plants on cold nights with cloches.
