For nearly 100 years, gardeners have been growing this reliable old favourite. Medium sized fruits mature early, are high in sugar and packed with that unmistakable sweet, tangy and tart, old fashioned flavour. Grow indoors or outside in sunny, sheltered spot.

Growing calendar
Sowing & growing
Jan-Apr, surface sow indoors in seed trays or pots of seed compost. Cover with fine layer of compost or vermiculite. Place on a sunny windowsill or in propagator at 18-21°C. Transplant when seedlings have 2 true leaves, handling by the leaves rather than the stem. Grow on at minimum temperature of 15°C.
Aftercare
Main stem will require support from cane/twine. Tie in with soft garden twine and continue to pinch off side shoots as it grows. Water regularly and feed weekly when flowers form.
